Carrot Sweet

  :: Gajar (Carrot) Halwa also known as gajrala is a traditional Punjabi dessert made
   with carrots and milk. Gajar Halwa is delicious warm or cold ::

   Ingredients
 • 250 gms grated red carrots
 • 5 tbs. (75 g) ghee
 • 1 liter cow’s milk or skimmed milk
 • 1/4 cup raisins
 • 100 gms sugar
 • 100 gms mawa (khoya)
 • Garnish with:
 • 1/2 cup Cashewnut
 • 1/2 cup almonds

      Preparation Method
1. First Heat the Ghee(clarified butter) in a non stick pan on medium heat. Now Add the
  grated carrots and fry till they turn light brown and Add the milk and cook until almost
  dry.

2. Now Add sugar and stir well till the sugar is dissolved. Add the raisins and cashewnuts.
  Then Keep stirring continuously, otherwise the mixture will stick to the bottom. Stir until
  semi dry. Add mawa and mix well.

3. Cook until the halwa leaves the sides of the pan and Ghee(clarified butter) separates

  from the halwa. Serve warm. Garnish with raisins, almonds, and cashewnuts.
