Green Beans With Onions

   Ingredients
 • 1 ½ lb pounds green beans,
   (cleaned and trimmed).
 • 16 oz pearl onions.
 • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar.
 • 1 tablespoon butter.
 • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil.
 • ½  teaspoon dried thyme.
 • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper.
 • 1 teaspoon salt.
 • ½  tablespoon olive oil.
 • ½  teaspoon mustard.
 • 3/4 teaspoon sugar.

     Preparation method 
1. First Blanch green beans in large saucepan of boiling water for about 5 minutes. 
  Drain and rinse with cold water.

2. In medium saucepan melt butter, add onions, 2 tablespoons vinegar, vegetable oil,
  thyme, pepper and 1/4 teaspoon salt and stir. Place mixture on a baking sheet and roast
  in a 400 degree F oven for 35 minutes, stirring occasionally until onions are browned
  nicely; remove from oven and set aside.

3. Now whisk together olive oil, mustard, sugar, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, and 1/4
  teaspoon of salt.

4. Toss the dressing together with the onions and the green beans. Place the mixture 
  in a large casserole dish, cover and bake for 20 minutes in a 175 C (350 F) oven.
